Our Story
A small whiskey glass sits atop an at home bar. Ice cubes slowly drop in. A gentle stream of whiskey washes over them. Not the usual way Herb starts his day. Though today- is a day he had hoped he would never have to live through. His slow sip of whiskey dulls his pain and gives him the strength to attend his best friends funeral.
Devastated, Herb approaches the urn. His wife Lottie, quietly supporting, walks behind him. The outpouring of friends and family is
overwhelming heartwarming.
Afterwards Herb, surrounded by photo albums, reminisces about his life with his wife. Trying to process, trying to move on, Herb finds
himself stuck.
Lottie, sitting silently, can tell Herb is having trouble dealing with his emotions. Quietly Herb announces that he’s noticed that at every
major event in their lives, they made it a point to dance.
As the pages turn we see various snippets, flashbacks of their lives together. Herb explains that through the good times and hard times he and Lottie made it through by dancing. Either a physical dance or emotional dance their relationship survived through their dancing.
Lottie realizes that Herb is in a place where he is accepting life’s challenges. She tells him they have to dance. Their song plays, looking
lovingly into each others eyes, Herb twirls her to an extend. As she reaches the end, Lottie slowly vanishes. Herb is taken back to the funeral, Lottie’s funeral. For a moment, Herb dances by himself. He mutters the last lines of their song and quietly accepts that this time he has no choice but to dance alone.
